Pandemic Alters Retirement Thoughts

| July 20, 2021

Twenty one percent of the respondents to research conducted by Harris Poll said they expect to work past the traditional retirement age of 65. Of those, 45% said it was because of necessity and 55% said it was because of choice.

Those who plan to work longer out of necessity cited not having enough saved to retire as the top reason.  Others said they do not believe Social Security will take care of their needs.

As for those who plan to work past 65 by choice, the top reason given by nearly half is that they enjoy their job or career and would like to continue working.
